"All that I love" in Los Angeles

All that I loveIn order to mark the 30th anniversary celebration of the Polish "Solidarity" movement an exceptional meeting took place on 15th December 2010 at the Museum of Tolerance (A Simon Wiesenthal Centre) in Los Angeles. It was part of the promotional campaign for the film ALL THAT I LOVE by Jacek Borcuch, the Polish candidate for an Oscar nomination in the Best Foreign Film category. Former President Lech Walesa was the guest of honour of the event, co-organized by the Adam Mickiewicz Institute and the Polish Film Institute.

The President opened the meeting with a quote from Simon Wiesenthal: "Freedom is not a gift from heaven, it is something we must fight for each and every day". Jacek Borcuch, the director of ALL THAT I LOVE, and Gorki Águila, the front man of a Cuban punk rock band, joined the Nobel Prize Winner on stage.

The audience could also watch an abbreviated version of the film "Beats of Freedom", in which Polish punk rock musicians talk about the 80s. Two musical performances were not to be missed: one from the legend of American rock, Stephen Stills of the iconic group "Crosby, Stills and Nash" and the other from the Cuban PORNO PARA RICARDO. Unfortunately, it was impossible for some of the band members to participate. A day before kicking off their tour, and at the time when they were recording a song for ALL THAT I LOVE (a tune from the legendary Polish punk rock band WC entitled "Dobranoc dla wybranych" /Goodnight for the chosen/) some of the group members were arrested by the Cuban police. The front man was amazed at how much the film ALL THAT I LOVE reflects the life of musicians in Cuba.

Andrzej Nagórski, journalist, creator of the Polish edition of Newsweek, moderated the panel. Other celebrity guests included: Sharon Stone, Dariusz Wolski, Jan A.P. Kaczmarek, representatives of the American press from LA Times, LA Weekly, and members of the American Academy of Motion Pictures.
